KPI dashboards that teams actually trust

Pretty charts do not create trust. Teams trust dashboards when numbers match the warehouse, definitions are obvious, and stale data is labeled honestly.

Show grain and time window

Every tile should answer: what entity, what period, what filter? Ambiguous cards force side conversations in spreadsheets.

Separate exploration from certification

Give analysts a sandbox. Put executive dashboards on certified metrics only so leadership is not surprised by experiments.

Make freshness visible

Display last successful load time. A beautiful chart fed by a failed pipeline is worse than no chart.
